The Top Word of 2010 And imagine that. An apparent mistake becomes a new word. The New Oxford American Dictionary declared "refudiate" the top word in 2010—a verb that Palin apparently invented. I certainly won’t attempt to refudiate that.

Even Dr. Seuss Faced Rejection The story focuses on athletics: "All Sorts of Sports. Shall I play checkers? golf? croquet? There are so many games to play." And it was rejected. I guess that puts many of us in good company! The original manuscript was up for auction in October.

The drawing has remained the cover art throughout the entire 58 years of its publication run. Its endurance makes it the most-printed cover illustration of any book by an American author.
