eChristian to Acquire Livingstone
Complementary Businesses Join to Increase Services to Publishers
Escondido, California, September 16, 2011 – eChristian, Inc. has agreed to acquire publishing concept and development company The Livingstone Corporation of Carol Stream, Illinois. Livingstone will become part of the newly-formed eC Publishing Group, also home to eChristian’s book and audiobook imprints.
“We are thrilled to add the expertise of Livingstone to eChristian’s publishing and digital initiatives,” commented eChristian CEO Todd Hoyt. “Livingstone is the best at what they do for publishing and product development, and they will continue to serve the entire Christian publishing industry.”
Bruce Barton, CEO and co-founder of Livingstone expressed enthusiasm for joining eChristian: “We believe that this new relationship provides continuity for what Livingstone has been doing for twenty-three years while enabling us to step up to the digital challenges that lay ahead. We are encouraged by the larger mission and impact that we can have together.”
eChristian Publisher Dan Balow added, “I have known and worked with Bruce, Dave Veerman and many of the Livingstone staff since the 1990s. We will complement each other well.”
Livingstone was founded in 1988 with publication of the Life Application Study Bible. Since then, Livingstone has completed over 600 specialty Bibles, books, and other published works, and has expanded its business to include typesetting and graphic arts services. Livingstone will continue to operate out of their offices in Carol Stream, Illinois.
eChristian, Inc., was founded in 2004 as christianaudio to fill a demand for Christian content in the audiobook format. Since then, the company has grown to include a strong online presence with christianaudio.com, and the more recent eChristian.com, an online destination for all forms of digital content. eChristian is based in Escondido, California and Carol Stream, Illinois.
